Prevent left swipe when in Desktop mode

Is there a feature or product which turns off/prevents the left swipe in Windows 8 desktop mode? I have Start8 installed and when is desktop mode I seem to activate the left swipe without meaning to and it throws me back into the tile interface interrupting what I am working on.

I was going to suggest "Windows 7", but this is the 'support' forum...;)
