search field don't work in any case

search field don't work very well. It 's freeze. and nothing happend

Hi Stardock community,

 

I believe I have the same issue as the OP. When I type into the search box in Start8 (latest version; 1.16), nothing happens. I get the 'Searching...' text replace my pinned programs but it never returns any matches, even with searches for Windows default program searches like 'calc' or 'notepad'. Likewise, when I type a program name like 'regedit' and hit enter the program does not load. 

Unfortunately, this means I have to keep dipping back to the Metro UI for searches which is extremely annoying.

 

Any suggestions?

What happens if you type c:\ into the search field?

You should get a directory listing.

Aha, that returns the directory listing for my C: drive!

What does this mean then? All I want the search box for is to be able to type the names (or part names) of programs to save hunting for them in the All Programs list.
