Icon Packager & Workshelf

I find that when I add an item to Workshelf, instead of it accepting and using the provided icon, it uses a default blank icon. There is a way around it by using Workshelf's "change icon" function" but it's a nuisance and doesn't work in all cases. I know this is due to the mix of Workshelf and Icon Packager because it doesn't occur when IP is uninstalled.

Does anyone else use these 2 packages, and do you have the same problem ?

It's been a long time but I'm thinking it may depend on how you add the item to workshelf.  If you've been using the rightclick add item method, try dragging the folder or exe file from explorer into the shelf.  Might also depend on what you're adding.

I have used both Winstep Extreme and IP together for several years now. I haven't seen that issue in Workshelf or Nexus, but it did crop up in Windows Explorer, the start menu and ObjectDock. There is a fix for that.

If the items you are adding are .exe's, try this:

Go to 'Start' open run command, type in Regedit.
In the new window of Registry Editor go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex and delete the subkey/folder 'IconHandler'

You may need to restart explorer and/or Winstep afterwards.

Tried it, made no difference at all alas. Thanks for trying.
