Modern Mix Returns to Desktop When Exiting an App

I am running both Start8 and Modern Mix on my Win8 laptop.  When I go to the Modern Start screen (or whatever it is called) via the 'Window 8 Menu' on the Start8 start button and choose an App then close it the system returns to the desktop.

Is there anyway I can have it return to Modern Start screen rather than the desktop?

How do you have ModernMix configured on the Advanced page in the configuration?

There is a setting to indicate what happens when you close fullscreen applications.

There is also a setting in Start8 under Desktop->Advanced button which if set will make it return to the desktop on Modern app close.

Start8 has 'Switch to desktop after closing a modern UI application' selected

and Modern Mix has 'Only when closing full screen application launched from the Window8 Menu' selected

Sounds like you just need to disable that setting in Start8 then and it should work as you would like.

As I go along trying to find a solution, I am beginning to  think I don't understand what is suposed to happen.  When I go to the Modern UI and drag an app down to the bottom of the screen the machine stays on the Start screen  I do the same thing to get the Stard screen and then 'window ' it using the overlay in the upper right corner and then close it with the 'X' I get returned to the desktop.  Is that the way it is supposed to work?
