Problem with focus when opened in desktop window?

If I start Internet Explorer modern app so that it starts in a window on the desktop, the first time I start it after booting the computer the app appears in a desktop window but with no content - see screen capture.  If I click on the window content appears.

This also happens with other apps that start on the desktop, but again, only the first time the app is started after a reboot.

What spec is your machine?

It looks like something stole focus away from the app before it started.  Directly after a reboot your machine is likely to be thrashing the HD and background apps set to startup at bootup will be starting up for a while and some of those like to steal focus.

Did you start it manually, or are you making it automatically start via startup?

I waited 30 minutes after startup and then tried starting an app in desktop window - same problem.

Starting the app manually (I didn't think that a modern app could be started automatically).
