You bastards!

Hey, just wanted to say that I really enjoy the game now and I will try and submit bugs that I have found and such when I've played a bit more.

But sir, why did you write "you bastards!"?

Well you see... I started a huge map with 7 other AI players and about 10 hours into the game I had finally managed to ally with 3 of them and very close to being allied with the rest, life was good.

EVENT!!!!!!! "Blablablabla Everyone declares war on everyone except for allies!" .... *facepalm*... Now soon 14 hours into the game I've gotten things under control again and I'm mostly just sweeping up bits and pieces of the game to get an official win.

Though there have been several bugs and missing text for some items and abilities but I'll post that in the other forum in a few days.

Great game, take care.

I find it personally an annoying event that seems out of character for a game trying to make your opponents feel "real." But each to their own.

yeah, I'm not a fan of that event at all.  It kinda shoots the player who likes a diplopmatic win in the foot.  I don't think any other victory condition suffers such a major slap in the face.  It has happened in every game I've played now.  I'm sure some people like might like it but I could do without it or with a change of frequency or something.

I love that event, though I'm concerned that the AI just cannot handle it.  In the game I am playing (on Challenging), 100 turns later, all the AIs have made peace with me, but they're all still at war with each other.  Basically the game is on easy mode, I am questing, building, and teching-up while the AIs batter each other.

I'm also not a fan of these events. In one game I got this event paired with +2 to all monster levels and multiple extra monster spawns with world difficulty level set at Ridiculous. I find them to be random arbitrary difficulty and I just don't like how that feels.

Predictability is the enemy of fun. Random events are always welcome in my book, especially if they make the game harder.

If anything I want more random events, more often.

No - there is an event in the game, with a splash screen - "Days of Blood" or something like that.  Personally, I usually dislike random stuff in games like this, but when I hit this event last night, it really twisted the game I was playing into something new and very fun.

Regardless, isn't there already a way to toggle these things off?

I would disagree with this to an extent. Randomness can easily make it feel like a player has little control over things (outcomes, encounters, difficulty etc.) which can quickly ruin the fun. So far, the LH changes in general make the game harder than FE, which I enjoy, but the way some of these events can stack is a bit much.

Pretty sure they're controlled by the random event slider during game creation. Moved it down from More Often to Less (Never is also an option) and thus far haven't had one.

Yeah I do have to agree with that... I find it kind of funny however how I'm allied with 5 out of 7 now at war with none except 1 and all of my allies ask me if I could send them stuff to help out with their war.

Feels like I'm supplying them with materials to exterminate eachother while rising to the top ^^

Though as fun as it is... I too feel like the AI cant handle it if they are going to be forever at war with eachother and basically gimp eachother and make it alot easier for the human player to win.

Yeah I had the events slider set to "Often" for this game but I think I will put it back to normal for my next game, I like the events and even though some are really bad and annoying (have been lots in this game) its still something I find adds to the fun because rather then taking the control away from me, I feel as if these events give me the option to be more creative and explore more options and roads rather then just heading down the 1 straight path I've set for myself.

Happened to me once. Had to reload for some reason. Save was from just before the event. Didn't happen again.

Point is, if you get annoyed by some event like this, you can load game from before and it most likely wont happen again.

Some ability to control what events happen or being able to mod them out would be welcome though.

Yeah I noticed this when playing before LH came out, though recently I've started playing games with no save&load allowed except for when I exit the game etc.

I thought about that too and think it would be a good idea to be able and access and choose what events to remove from the list of possibilities or something to that effect.

Ahh the Season of Blood.

I actually like it, its a hell of a surprise the first time. I actually lost a game because I was in the middle of all the other empires and wasn't ready for that event. Now that I know its a possibility its not such a big deal. I just have to be prepared in case it happens.

please add more modifying options to scenarios on random maps.

Events - which kind,

Starting positions....

Monster types (say, add 90% of magical monsters or vice versa)

exportable map from game

...

Random events such as these are great. They add quite a bit to replay value.
