My suggestion is to go into C:\Users\YOURNAME\Desktop\Steam\steamapps\common\FE Legendary Heroes make a shortcut of LegendaryHeroes.exe, its the one thats an application, and has the icon. This will allow you to launch the game from your desktop without ever starting steam. Also I've never had an issue with Steam, nor know anyone whom has.

Probably because Steam reaches a huge audience that no other platform comes near to, makes perfect business sense to put it on there.

Well, I'm not a liar, and I don't appreciate you telling a bunch of people you don't even know to "shut the hell up".  I have never had any problems with Steam.  I'm sorry if you don't want to hear that.  I am also sorry you have problems with it.  You will be missing out on a great game with Legendary Heroes.

No need to get bent out of shape. there's a simple solution.

Vote with your dollars. If you don't like Steam, simply don't purchase games that require it.

If enough people feel the same way you do, Steam will suffer financially.

However, you are currently in the minority, so save you energy for constructively getting your point across.

In the end, ignoring everything else, there are simply way more people out there who will only buy PC games on Steam than who won't buy it because it is/requires it. If you look back at Brad's posts, you'll see comments that even some of our older titles are selling amazingly well since we put them up on Steam. You'd think that most people who want a game would have it already years on, but apparently Steam is a really big deal to some people.

Anyway, in your particular case it sounds like you're having some problem with the anti-account-theft system Steam uses that requires you to authorize an IP address/machine the first time you log in from there? If you're on a frequently-renewing dynamic IP I can see that being a pain. I'm not sure if there is any opt-out for that, but I'd expect Steam support should be able to help in some fashion.

If Steam works for the majority of people, and not you, maybe Steam isn't the problem.

If you are a Steam fanboy, which is the same as a Steam supporter, then kindly shut the hell up and don't comment on how wonderful Steam works, don't give me platitudes like "I've been using Steam for several years and I have never had a problem with it". You're a liar if you say something like that. I hope that is blunt enough for all who read this.

   I can honestly say, that to the best of my knowledge, I have never had any significant issues with Steam. Hardly any minor ones either. Instead of saying, "if you disagree with me, your wrong and an evil liar." you could instead say that you have reservations and that you, yourself, have had numerous issues with them. Telling people they are wrong about their own experiences, most of whom you don't know, is a childish rant at best. Your experiences are not king, those statements are simply insulting.

    Ive owned XCom since day one through Steam, never had a steam related issue with it. Same goes for your LH debacle. Have you tried contacting steamsupport to resolve this?

As to your question, I'd guess steam reaches a far larger audience than most other distribution methods and this will help sales. FE is more of a niche game and it needs the help, I love LH and want to see more from this franchise, Steam will help this.

I've been using Steam since it was in beta.  Never had a problem with a single game.  MAYBE an update or release doesn't come out at the exact time every now and again but no problems otherwise.  The majority of people don't have problems with it, so I'm sorry, but it's your problem if Steam is having issues.

Check for hardware conflicts, check to see if ports need to be forwarded, if it's in your exceptions on firewall etc.

In it's current state Steam is exceptionally stable and versatile.  It also completely changed the way we PC gamers can get games and it's here to stay, so I would suggest finding a way to get it running smoothly.

It comes down to this: Stardock didn't want to do SDC and Steam releases simultaneously, so one of them had to go, and unfortunately SDC was what went.

That still starts Steam.  I do wish there was a way to start the game without starting Steam, sometimes Steam is stupid.

The point is not whether it can be played offline or without starting Steam. The point is having to install Steam in the first place. Key word HAVING to.

Yeah Steam's great. Been using it since they launched, and only had like 5 games. Never had a problem. Never couldn't play any of the games I purchased. Steam went down for a minute or two, a few times this summer, which kicked me out of DayZ but I was able to get right back in, and that was it, ever. My buddies use Steam too, no problems for them either. The problem is definitely on your end. Steam support is great. If you are serious about getting LH working and not just trolling steam then I would contact them. Heck my buddy bought Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead for $25. Then a week later Arma 2 Complete Collection goes on sale for $19, he asks them if he could get a refund to purchase the whole collection instead and they gave it to him. He's happier than a pig in *hit pluggin away at zombies. They didn't have to do that for him, they coulda been like "nope pay an extra 19 if you want the complete collection, even tho you own one of the games already". So give it a shot, maybe things will work out for you too
