Icon Spacing in Task Bar

Has anyone figured out how to decrease the space between the icons in the task bar? They are far apart and take up a lot of space so I am wondering whether there is a way to move the closer to each other so I can squeeze more icons in?

I agree with you about the problem with the taskbar. Even when you make the icons smaller, the space stays the same.

But what has this got to do with Start8? <_<

Oh, the space between the icons is not determined by Start8? I didn't know that Windows 8 is the culprit. Sorry, am not a geek.
