Seems to be due to duplicate files on disk. While I have removed the duplicated "Keepass" (two versions installed), in the "Excel" case, Start8 is picking up
- a shortcut from "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu"
- a shortcut to the exe (NOT present in "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu", neither in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu"
Any hint?
My Win8 64-bit system shows a similar problem with the Start Menu program listings, including duplicates and omissions.
The Start8 "All Programs" section loses synchronization with the actual contents of the "All Users" Start Menu items ( "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" ) after they are manually rearranged by an Administrator user.
When I use Start8 to rearrange the Start Menu items by the drag & drop method, the results are sporadic. That may have something to do with how each program was installed (and then maybe uninstalled), with the Start Menu showing that program just for the original user, or for all users on that computer.
The program shortcuts for "All Users" are located in: "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu"
While the shortcuts for just the current user are in: "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" ,
and I generally rearrange it so that most program shortcuts are relocated to the "All Users" area.
Please add a Start Menu Resynchronizer function to Start8 so that it can keep up with any rearrangements that may have occurred outside of its control. Ideally, that would run automatically, but placing a button somewhere in the Start8 Configuration menus would be fine too.
Thanks.
