You've got to be kidding me.

I get that you've got a right to make money, and protect yourself from piracy.  

Making the process convoluted and difficult, though, is not how you get repeat business.

 

Maybe, someday, I'll hear rumors that Stardock has stopped doing this stupid shit.  If that happens, I might *possibly* give you money again.

That is for offline activation only (which is rare to support at all these days). If you have internet access on the machine you are activating on, you simply enter the info and carry on.
