Limitations & Activations

I understand and appreciate the need for Limitations and Activations.  That said, I have to point out that I am on the verge of going with a different win 8 start menu.  I've tried both and I prefer Start8.  The catch is it will cost me $5-8 to cover my machines with the alternative and $25-30 for Start8. When you can't purchase something and put it on things you own, it's irritating. It's fine if power users are not your target audience, but in my mind you buy something like this and then can't install it on at least your desktop and laptop that is overly restrictive.

I'm sure nothing will change and I'll end up on the alternative, but I like Stardock and I've been around their stuff for a very long time (late 90's somewhere) so i'm just popping on here and giving some feedback why I'm probably not going with them.

if you buy Windows licence, than you are entitled to install it only on one machine. Same with e.g. Adobe Photoshop and lots of other software. So why this should be otherwise? $5 its not so much to pay for gread app...

6 machines is something of an edge case.

I know we are considering multi license packs, but I don't know the status on those.  I will find out and update this thread when I know.

I'll be honest, it is an edge case & I don't expect you to cater to it.  I'm not an average computer user.  But I'm not saying you should let me do whatever I want for $5. My main point is that the main functionality of the software can be achieved for 1/5th the price - even if it is not the superior product.  I can't justify $25 if $5 will meet my needs.

And then there is lots of software that isn't.  Your point?  Someone does it too...

That said, it's fine your happy with the price and limitations.  I'm not.  I'm not here so you can convince me all is fine.  I'm here to just let Stardock know my feelings.  They run a business, and I know they are a good company that appreciates feedback.  My feedback has always been appreciated before, especially on irc. Normally I wouldn't even give feedback in situations like this, I'd just be some random unknown non-customer.  I like Stardock, thus... feedback.

Like I said, "I'm sure nothing will change and I'll end up on the alternative".  I'm not here for a coupon, I'm here for feedback.

I, for one, really appreciate the feedback.

It's a challenge trying to find the balance that get us enough money to run our SUVs 24/7 and still keep the people happy enough to feed those habits.  ;)
