File doesn't show up in enclosure

This has probably been addressed here but I've done a search and probably just didn't get the correct wording. I just downloaded a file to my desktop, I have only 5 fences and the file does not appear in any of them. It is a media file and I have a media fence that is set to default with all the media type files, but the file does not show up in the fence. If I disable Fences the file is there on the desktop, but I can't find it with Fences enabled... any suggestions?
