That relates to a slow list load not any other issue.

I cant't believe that's true because the list works quick and dependable with Classic Shell. I made a quick test, uninstalled Start8, installed Classic Shell, opened up 3 random programs (VLC, GoldWave an MP Navigator) and all made it to the recent used applications list in an instant. Here is an screenshot:

Thing is, I don't want to switch to Classic Shell because Start8 looks way better IMO.

Thank you for your time.

I have asked for more information here : https://forums.stardock.com/439101

The other app doesn't appear to be using the OS data if you had to launch apps in order for anything to show, so thats not a like for like test.  In fact that list is most likely very basic counting number of launches rather than the additional data points that the OS stores (and used on Win7).

As mentioned above, the fix in the RC changelist relates to something completely different, it just sounds related because it mentions the recently used apps list.

Thanks for the update and still loving the program, however 1 issue still annoys me and is still in this version.

---

Half the control panel option is cut off for me (regardless of resolution) when it's at the very bottom despite having enough room for the entire box.

Pic of the issue, as you can see a part of the outer box is cut off.

I can fix it by simply adjusting the amount of large icons BUT, this makes the gap a lot bigger and unsightly, as such would it perhaps be possible to adjust the size of the viewable area for the bottom most link?.

Hi Neil :)

I just installed the newest build 1.1 RC and I noticed that the option to "Rename" is missing from the right click context menu for the items on the right side of the start8 menu where "Computer" item is.

Why was this removed and will it be added back?

Also can you please add a option to reorder the items on the right side of the Start8 menu where Computer item is?

And also can you please allow me to for example to click on the small arrow to bring up the power options menu and then from there be able to move my mouse cursor over say the "Computer" item and right click just once to bring up context menu? Currently you need to right click twice and I do not like it this way. Same goes for the All Programs scroll Bar. Please allow that to move when moving my mouse cursor from the power option menu to the All Programs list. This is how it works under Windows 7 so why not make it like that for Start8?

I really hope you can add these small requests in the near future.

Thanks

There is duplicate string:

"Insert custom places at the top of the list" = "Insert custom places at the top of the list"

The german language translation should be fixed.

Also the title, in english "Configuration" in german "Konfiguration"... or should be better "Einstellungen"...

Hello,

Wishlist: make it possible to switch between translations of configuration dialogue. The button itself uses the Win8 system language, however configuration dialogue was english before, now in german partially.

So make it possible to switch between languages for configuration dialogue. I miss english language like it was before.

Start8 will use the language your OS is using if a translation is provided.

If you wish to go back to english just delete the language file for your language from the lang folder off the Start8 installation directory.  In your case that would be de.lng.

Sorry I thought I had replied to this one.  I must have thought about it not actually written it!

Regarding the rename option, thats never been an option Start8 has provided on the places list and you are the first to mention it.  We can look into adding it in the future though for the couple of default items that would support it.  You are able to use the new custom places list locations to work around this if you wish.

On the power options menu causing the need for an additional right click if you have the menu open, this is something of a niche issue whch is why it has not been addressed for 1.1.  I will make sure it is on the list for future updates though.
