No recently used programs shown

I installed the trail version of Start8 a couple of hours ago, and it immediately fixed my biggest (and about only) gripe with Windows 8.

But I have one problem, I can't get any recently used programs to show on the start menu. I've set it to show at least 10 recently used programs, but the list is completely empty. Even after I spent a couple of minutes opening and closing random programs to see if something happened.

Is it a bug or do I need to use it more before something happens?

There's also a short flash of the regular Start Screen when I start the computer, before the desktop is shown. Is there anything that can be done about that?

Start8 1.09 beta (which you can download from this forum), should avoid that.

1.1 will contain the updates in 1.09 and should be released later this month.

There have been no such reported issues.  Please make sure you are running the most recent version of Start8:
