Sins of a Solar Empire fails to register!!!

Hello, I've just downloaded Sins of a Solar Empire 5* btw best space rts game I can find.   I'm on my new pc and I go to download it with the impulse gamestop app, when I finish downloading, and it goes to ask for a serial key so that I can activate my key, I type in EVERYTHING required, and then hit register, nothinghappens, I tried to do the whole compatability thing but that too doesn't work, is there something wrong with stardock? I want to have a fast and thorough answer if possible.

Corrected the title...however Support is unlikely to be awake - yet...it's 2.30am, Saturday there...;)

I have heard Rebellion sometimes has installation issues with Windows 8. Sadly I do not know how to fix them as I have windows 7.

okay, you purchased Sins today from gamestop, or previously through Stardock Impulse, which it no longer owns.  I believe that Gamestop issues the keys, for these purchases not Stardock.

Okay I  now installed the new app but I don't see my stardock games even though this website says that they are all on my downloads

Try this: http://sd.stardock.com/sdactivate_legacy.zip

Extract the contents to the folder the game was installed via GameStop and overwrite any existing files. You should then be able to complete the registration process.

now I got a curious problem, how do I update my games?  On a side note when I try to activate my sins diplo and ent it says sd activate.exe could not run try running in admin, what do I do or did wrong?
