A Truck Stop Christmas

I am hauling a fire truck, which is an over-size load, out to Baltimore. Over-size loads are not allowed to move on a holiday and have to be parked by noon on the weekday prior to a holiday. I've been sitting here at the Ohio/Indiana line since a little before noon yesterday and can't leave out again until tomorrow morning.

It could be worse, at least it's a full service truck stop with decent food, showers, laundry facilities and all that. There are a few other drivers also stuck here until tomorrow so we've been chatting with each other and generally making the best of it.

They are having a big holiday buffet here today, for an inflated price of course. I don't yet know if I'll partake or not. I do know that I'll be doing laundry later today, and doing a bit of housekeeping in my truck.

Regardless I'm here until tomorrow so I'm making the best of it.

Merry Christmas, Mason.  Hope the storms don't wreak any havoc on ya.

Thanks, Daiwa. Actually the storm has me really screwed. I'm in the middle of a blizzard now. I called the Ohio highway patrol to check on the conditions east of here and he told me if they catch me out there with an over-sized load in this weather they would shut me down, revoke my permit, and ticket me.

I'm stuck here at least until tomorrow morning. The kicker is my Ohio permit expires today so a new one will have to be ordered. If I can't roll tomorrow morning I'm really screwed as the load has to be at the port no later than the 3rd and the New Year restrictions kick in starting on Saturday which will make delivery by the 3rd nearly impossible.

For now all I can do is sit here and watch it snow.

Was afraid the storms would dump on the parade, but was hoping.  Good luck getting moving.

Thanks, I managed to get out of there Wednesday morning. Had to play snowplow with my truck to shove a huge drift out of my way. There are advantages to grossing 90,000 lbs LOL

Of course this is late cause I COULD NOT GET IN but I had to say a hi and glad you got out there again.  Too bad about being stuck at the truck stop.  Truckers are a "different" and special breed.  IMHO.
