Randomly Generated Maps

I'm finding that the randomly generated maps are really unsatisfactory. I'm playing on large maps and keep finding myself in some barren corner where I can only build one or two cities. It makes for an uninteresting game. Does this new map pack address that problem?

The map pack has a few new stamps but it isn't going to drastically alter the random generation of map. The map pack's primary benefit is a series of maps of various sizes that aren't random.

You can always press Ctrl-N to generate a new set-up.

I've done all 3 and I'm usually happy - ecomental, map pack and liberal dosing of ctrl-n.  I like to cheat and have my starting location be at least a 3-3-2, with more production preferred (3-4-2).

I'm actually going to go the other way - managing 15 or so cities is kind of a pain... along with clearing the enemies 15 or so.  I think I'm going ravaged next time.

Yeah, I prefer having less settling spots, but better spots, so I have fewer overall cities, but those cities are productive and useful.

They really should implement a "Legendary start" option. That was always my favorite for Civ5 and going tall. With some tweaks to the game and that, we might look at a going tall option here as well instead of pioneer spam everywhere.

One of my things for these types of games is to keep starting a new game over and over until I get a start that I like.  Yesterday, I spent upwards of 7 hours re-starting just to get an area that I liked.  Some looked good initially but turned out to not be good after 10-15 turns.  One thing I learned in this time, the random maps aren't as random as you think.  On several dozen occasions, I got the same map.. or atleast they had the exact same starting area.. from the stamps to the resources to the grain/material/essence setup.
