Apparent bug

I am a visual studio developer so I must know what I am talking about here. After I installed  Decor8 and configured it everything worked fine until about 5 or 6 wakes up from Sleep. Then the desktop became unstable and sometimes unresponsive, the internet explorer refused to connect and the windows explorer became so sluggish that creating a new folder took forever. Then windows explorer started to reboot after I tried to do anything with it. It was impossible to get back to the new Windows 8 Menu. Only rebooting the PC fixed this. I uninstalled Decor8 today to see if I can reproduce the problem again. I am at this point no saying that Decor8 is what is causing the problem. I'll wait after a few wake ups from Sleep and see. This happened on two occasions after installing Decor8. Let's wait and see.

Do you have Decor8 set to change the background every so often?

I would say it sounds like a resource leak, but if explorer restarted then any leaked resources would have been freed.

As you say it may be unrelated.

No, I just did a basic setup with Decor8. I just setup a different (non-default) background for the Windows 8 Menu.

Today the problems returned with Decor8 uninstalled. I then did a system restore to a point in time before Decor8 was originally installed. I want to see in something was changed to the registry that remained when I uninstalled Décor8. I am again waiting to see if the problems recur. I'll keep you posted.

End of mvdgen's quote

Decor8 makes no changes that would impact anything else in the registry as it only writes to its own registry keys so it sounds very much like Decor8 is not responsible for the problem if it happened after uninstall.  Assuming you rebooted after uninstalling that is.

It has been 4 days since I did the system restore. The problem has not recurred. The only installation I did after Décor8 was the iTunes V11 64bit update. I had previously installed ObjectDoc Plus and Start8 with no problems to this day.

I am doing a second installation of Windows 8 in a different PC. I will install Décor8 there and see what happens. For now I am not reinstalling it on my present Windows 8 PC because what I experienced there was real and crippling.
