W8-Multiplcity Winlogon.dll not loaded

Just trying to get new W8 system set up, the Multiplicity winlogon.dll won't load, primary system sees it, but gives error 'unable to connect'

No services running either

Sent a ticket to support earlier in week...no reply as yet.

Firewall set to allow.

Given the message I assume you are using Multiplicity 1 which isn't officially supported on Windows 8 though it will generally work.  The winlogon dll message means little on any OS other than Windows XP as that bit only loads up after a connection is made on Vista/7.

The secondary computer needs port 30564 to be open and Multisrv.exe running.  This is controlled by the Stardock Multiplicity service in the services list.  If this is missing you can open an elevated command prompt and run multisrv -install from the Multiplicity directory.

OK, I see I'm having to uninstall and reinstall older versions from other systems, not sure why I didn't get alerted to new downloads via my Stardock\Impulse manager, but now my serial number is rejected, are you forcing existing users to re-purchase v2.0?

Also, why are we now forced to add a 'passcode' now?

Any further news on this?

Still never got a reply to my support ticket from last week either, you guys are usually faster than this. Checked my spam filters and junk mail folders, nothing

You will need to pay to get 2.0 (but you are eligible for a discount at https://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/download.asp )

Thanks for the reply, I've got no qualms about buying it again, even if I didn't have a discount, I love the software and it works great.

As to forcing me to do something I don't want with the password, that's another story. It's just as bad as Microsoft forcing me to use their scanner to download files in IE9, I don't need anyone help in determining what's good or bad when I choose to download something.

At the very least you should have that as an option, not force it upon users.

And speaking of things users don't want, pre-selecting the AVG bloatware is bad practice, but I know it's just a money grab. No one ever really needs these types of add ons. the Internet is full of people complaining about this type of tactic.

Too bad, I'll be sure to advise users to avoid that when I recommend the software, which I do often.

Thanks again for the update.

When purchased from Stardock, AVG is not part of the download.  It is only available through c|net.

I was just heading back here to clarify that fact so users wouldn't get the impression it's on your direct down load. Apologies for not making that clear right off the bat.

I've activated the Multiplicity software successfully and I'm back in business.

Also looking at your Start8 program and already own Fences.
