Strip to the Core a dead strat

SttC was absolutely an overpowered strat pre-nerf.  It needed a fix to bring it into balance.  Making it require 8 labs was not sufficient.

But I contend that the devs went too far in its adjustment.  Taxing it at fleet upkeep rates and vastly increasing the time it takes to mine has effectively killed this as a strategy in the game.  I find this unfortunate.  The ability certainly added a very different play style and flavor to Sins and now it's nothing more than a novelty that simply isn't used in any level of competitive match.

I would suggest bringing the SttC tax penalty to half (or less) of the fleet upkeep rate.  Keep the longer time frame in place, it should be difficult and risky to strip a planet that is outside your controlled territory, but the pay off has to be worth it and it simply isnt right now.

I think the balance is pretty decent right now, and I play VL quite often.  In the past, SttC snowballed pretty fast and was hard to fight against -- it definitely isn't OP anymore, but it is still effective as a scorched earth tactic.  When you can't defend everything you consolidate and burn what you would lose and keep your raiding fleet on the move.  The VL ability to operate completely as a nomadic civ is still a powerful strategic option that gives them some flexibility end-game, but it is situational now vs being almost a no-brainer before.

It is imho quite fine right now.

It is still one of the most powerful abilities in the game.... you can permanently deny an enemy one of his valuable planets.

In combination with Kostura it is still very very deadly. Unless heavily fortified, you can jump to an enemy capital, bomb it and then strip it before his fleet can arrive and retake it.

The money given to you is more a bonus... and making it anything but fully taxed with make it OP immediatly.

Vasari already have the second best economy far ahead of the poor Advent. They certainly dont need any more power in this area.

Terraformation for advent and tec is the only remedy

SttC is fairly balanced in normal / slow speed games as well. No complaints here amongst our group.

I still think that STTC would have been better as the ultimate ability on the VL titan.
