FE not displaying properly at 1920x1080 on TV

I recently hooked my PC to my television. It running at 1920x1080. Initially FE retained the original resolution from my monitor (1280x1024), However it wasn't stretched across the screen but only used a small box at the upper left part of the screen. It was impossible to change the resolution (or do anything else) because the menu's buttons display area doesn't match their 'hitbox'. The 'hitbox' is somewhere to the right and below the button (actually in the correct location I guess).

I tried to change the resolution via the ini file. The resolution did change but the menu buttons would not work at all. It also switched to windowed mode and I couldn't revert it to full screen even via same ini file.

Cheers |-)

Please change the name of the thread, because there is absolutely no problem with the resolution in general.

Try to find drivers for your TV, but otherwise be prepared there won't be a fix. Many televisions do not have the full functionality of computer monitors. Also, what type of connection do you use? HDMI, displayport, or DVI? Please don't say analog VGA cable...

I use a 1920-1080 screen.  Everything seems fine except the intial screen, the elemental symbols at the top and bottom are cut off.  I will load a screen shot later.

This is a common issue for games.

Anytime I switch from my monitor (1080p) to my TV (also 1080p) via an HDMI cable, games will not properly switch to full screen (and have the hitboxes in the right spot).  You can fix it by going into the games resolution UI and changing to 1080p there - the game will then be full screen 1080 and work normally.

Well, I am using a VGA cable until I get the time to buy an HDMI cable. That said, I've tried a bunch of games since I switched to TV and FE is the only one that had an issue.

I suppose I can wait and try the cable.

I strongly recommend using HDMI, DVI or DisplayPort (depending on your gfx card and TV capabilities - HDMI should be possible). When you use VGA cable, there are two conversions - first, the digital image is converted to analog signal (with loss of quality) which is transferred by the VGA cable, and in the TV, it's converted again back from analog to digital, with another loss of quality. The effect is a blur, and problems like you experience. HDMI cable transfers digital signal with perfect quality, each rendered pixel precisely to a physical pixel on your TV. I also believe it could help your problem. When you have modern equipment, don't cripple it by obsolete parts like this - a HDMI cable costs next to nothing, and if you have time to play games, you surely have time to buy one ;-)

Cheers.

I had this issue in civ5, I think I solved it by updating video drivers..

This is how my main screen always looks.  I have tried the in game resolution setting of "Desktop" and 1920x1080, I can never see the top and bottom of the screen.  Unless this is how it is suppose to look.

Top Elemental symbol is off screen and the bottom is cut off.
