Please Support Higher Resolutions!!!!!

Hello! Seems like everything in desktop X is mostly made for 1024x768. Why? That resoultion is grainy. 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 are much better looking. I don't understand who would even want to run their monitors at 800x600 or 1024x768??? Please make more themes avalible for higher rez.

Thanks......

A lot of people can't use the higher resolutions, don't have large monitors, or have laptops where its impossible. Anyway half the fun of the OD progs is customizing them to suit your desktop needs and resolution (very easy).

there will be one supporting 1024x768 AND HIGER soon (if You like blue and orange)

Fine... higer = higher...

Yep, my laptop is limited to 1024x768 and my primary desktop montior is 17 inches. Anything above 1024x768 becomes a squint-fest.

it's very hard to make a desktopx theme for higher screen sizes, due to:
-If the author uses a walpaper or for example a bar on the left, by top to bottom, the graphics must be on a concrete size
-If a theme is designed on a concret screen size, for example 1024x768, when the screen is resized, the icon moves their position uncorrectly. The icons can have automatic positioning when the screen size changes, but is very hard to make a theme with correct positioning!
I tempted to make some screnn-sizes-independant themes for desktopX, but when i changing the screen size by 1024 to 1280 the objects moves their position!
The authors can make themes for any screen sizes, and there is not lot of people with a 1600x1200 monitor capable! This is my case: i don't have a big monitor, then i can make themes for 1600x1200

I have a nice 19" monitor, but I all I feel comfortable with is 1152x864. I try and make my skins compatible with most resolutions, but sometimes it's just not possible to cater to extremes.

After getting my 19" monitor, I can't go to anything less than 1600X1200 32bit res. Please support the higher resolutions!!

Especually in Aston! Only a few are 1200X.. or above.

The themes that I make are 1024x768 (at the moment) because that is the maximum resolution that I can run at on my system. It's hard to make a bigger res theme because you wouldn't be able to see where you were putting objects etc.

If you have a big monitor and a graphics card that can support higher resolutions, you should consider yourself lucky as some of us can't afford to upgrade. And you could always make your own themes
Graphicsgod2: with a name like that, surely you could make a theme?

Catering for 'all' screen resolutions....whether higher or lower can be quite time-consuming...there are quite a few valid resolutions out there, not counting dual-screen varieties.
As an example, here is what I needed to do for my last LiteSTEP theme to make it 'totally' res-independent...

I would, but I'm new to Aston (and any other shell program for that matter) . Just started playing with the program, and the only theme I can use is the default one. Once I figure it out more, I'll see what I can do.

I mostly stick with art, games (ie. mods), and html. I don't do to much skinning in windows.

And 19" monitors are getting really cheap! I paid about $350 for mine (about a year ago), now they'er going for around $150. Thats chump change people!!

Zanshin, skinners are NOT here to provide a sevice to people, they merely upload stuff they've made for themselves. If a skinner supports a resolution he/she doesn't use, in one of their themes, then you should be grateful, and not expect them to automatically have to do it for every theme.
If it's that much of a problem for you, get a graphics prog and start making your own themes at larger res'.

moshi...
I'm aware of that, but this is an extract from my 'conditionals.rc' used for a multi-theme system...12 in one, all interlinked, and it was set to enable any present or future variables to be included....'x' axis or 'Y'...[I had included walls for each res variation]....

I can understand the need for some to "put their 2 cents worth in" regarding resolution issues. I support what Hippy said earlier. If you have a "custom request', the approach you use towards the artist may have better results than "demanding" compliance. To be asked to do something is always better than being told. Besides, artists would probably consider the request a compliment when asked one-on one through an e-mail. The decision ultimately resides with the artist. (IMHO)

Graphicsgod: $150 may be "chump change" to you, but I can assure you it ain't to me! I have two kids a mortgage a dog and a cat. Like I said before: "If you have a big monitor and a fancy graphics card, consider yourself lucky."

Looking forward to your first multi-res theme
