Where did the lore issues go?

I was playing today with a custom race trying to get past a frozen waste. There were Garotte armies all over the place and I realised 'I love the lore of this world.' I'm taking the lore completely for granted - which is a really good sign because lore should be intuitive to a degree. It either means I've been playing the game too much or the lore makes interesting sense.

The lore of elemental is completely new, and it is not just re-using the most common fantasy figures (elves, orcs, dwarves). Because of this, a big problem with the lore of Elemental is that it takes time to absorb. I love it, it is beautiful in its own right. BUT I love it because I played it a lot. I think the game still faces the same problems as it did before as far as introducing the lore to new players goes.
