[1.01] Game won't start

Aahhh, a return to the good old days of PC gaming.... when the game simply refuses to load up :p

Has anybody else had problems running 1.01? V1.00 runs ok (well, I haven't played the game yet, but I can get to the menu). but with 1.01, nothing, nadda.

Is anybody else having problems? Am I missing something simple? I suppose I'll try re-downloading and installing everything from scratch.

Same problem here. It just starts trying to open that file for 20 minutes. If I check the task manager it shows nothing, however it usually causes windows explorer to stop working or some kind of lock up at that point. My computer is a home built gaming machine and it is very stable I have few problems running any games old or new so this behavior is really strange.

After going through two reboots I decided to try once more. I did not open my web browser. I opened the file from the downloads folder in windows explorer not the pop up from within the web browser (I use Firefox). It still took more than 20 minutes before it kicked in and gave me the option to install however this time it was at least showing that spinning arrow that lets you know its doing something and explorer was not locking up.

I hope this helps.

Similar issue here, just purchased the game today earlier this afternoon. my copy is a digital download via Steam. Ive yet to get the game to launch flawlessly . It so far hasnt loaded but once via steam's launch options. Ive gotten it to launch via the FallenEnchantress application file in its folder/directory, though doing so launches it on its own without Steam so I'm unable to bring up the Steam HUD and such.

I've verified the file integrity via steam's options and have closed steam out and re opened and I'm still unable to get the game to fully load.

It just sits semi loading in my Task Manager(when launched via steam) , steam will display that the game is running when it isnt. The only way i've been able ot close it when it does this is via Task manager and telling it to end the process.

I'm hoping I can come up with a solution soon as Ive been lookin forward to checking this game out lol

Will it affect anything if i choose to launch and play FE through the exe file in the game's directory until I can get the problem troubleshooted?

I don't think it will have any negative effect. You just won't have the steam overlay.

If running the .exe directly doesn't work try running it in other windows compatibilities (right click exe file->properties->compatibility). If nothing else check the event viewer in control panel->administrative tools and google some errors.

Well i am able to get the game to run from the .exe fine. I just wanted to make sure it'd be ok doing so until i can troubleshoot the issue with it not launching properly via steam since that was how i had purchased/downloaded the game originally. Hopefully support will be able to help me as i've contacted them and submitted a ticket.
