Incorrect Startmenu paths

Start8 uses the wrong folder location for start-menu entries.

Currently it's searching C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs however many legacy and current applications use C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

This is also the same for C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs with applications also storing shortcuts in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

I'm having to manually dig out and move the entries or switch to Metro to find some applications, please patch this in the next version :)

Applications should have stopped using the directory below over a decade ago so I don't know why there are some that still use it.

However I will see about getting this changed in the next update.

Even Windows 8 Start screen shows items from the Start menu folder. It's just outside "All Programs", where did you read that it's deprecated?

End of some1anywhere's quote

Applications used to put files outside of programs to make them show at the top of the classic startmenu.  Once the new style startmenus arrived there was no longer a gain for doing this and applications should have put them in programs as they are programs.
