[Possible glitch?] Familiars can be Tamed?

I was perusing the CoreMonsterUnitTypes.xml and noticed Familiars are <CreatureType>Beast</CreatureType> ... yes, they look like a wolf, but it seems odd they'd be categorized as Beast, doesn't that mean they are vulnerable to Tame?  If a rival sovereign summoned a Familiar and I Tamed it, would they still have to maintain it with their mana, and would the captured Familiar still have all of their sovereign's spells and abilities?

Also, if I could capture one with Tame, what happens to it if I fully defeat the sovereign who summoned it?

I remember using tame on a Shadow Warg summoned by Procipinee. It disappeared after combat.

 

I guess the AI thinks the summoned creature is dead, so it won't pay the mana cost to maintain upkeep, and it dies. Not sure tho.

I think that would be awesome and fantastic tech if you could tame another factions familiar.

That's interesting to try out, hard though as they never seem to survive combat.
