Clicking SHUTDOWN from Start8 Menu doesn't work?

Clicking SHUTDOWN from Start8 Menu doesn't work?

I keep clicking it and it doesn't shutdown my computer.

Is it not working?  I am using the trial and just installed it today, it says no updates available so I'm assuming I have the latest version.

I'm planning to buy this for my entire family, but I need to make sure all the Win7 Start Menu functions are working.

The shutdown option should shut down your machine.

If you right click on the start button and pick shutdown from that, does that menu let you shutdown your machine?

No, it doesn't.

I can't even shutdown or restart my computer using the Charms?

UPDATE:

I uninstalled Start8 and now my Windows8 won't even restart or shutdown or do anything like that anymore.

I won't do it thru Charms or CTRL-ALT-DEL.

This sucks, I have to redo my entire system again and reinstall my apps!  >:(

 

Everything was working fine before I installed Start8.  And yes, it was a CLEAN install.

If none of the other options work it is nothing to do with Start8 being installed as you saw when you uninstalled Start8.

Unfortunately Windows 8 is a new operating system and as with all new things it may have undiscovered bugs.

Cant you just do a system restore on an restore point previous installation of start8?
