Dragging from "Start" menu to desktop

It's possible I'm doing something wrong, however I think maybe the feature is just missing.

Any chance you could add-in the ability to drag icons from the start-bar to the desktop? Under Win7 for example I'd do a right-click drag to the desktop and then from the context menu select "create shortcut here" option and low and behold - one shortcut.

Would be really handy to have that feature back under 8.

Same problem here, just seems to be a missing feature. Dragging to the superbar does not work either :(
