Default Color

Can you make Start8 use the default OS color scheme instead of me having to try and match the color? I can never get it exactly right.

It already does?

The default option for Start8 is to use the OS taskbar colour for the menu.  To reset it back to normal just pick the Reset to automatic colour option from the colour drop down in Start8.

By default Start8 disables translucency on the menu unlike the taskbar, but you can also either disable translucency on the taskbar from the control page, or allow the Start8 menu to use translucency unticking the disable translucency checkbox on the style page.

When I set Start8 to automatic color the start menu is then set to a gray color. I'm using a Teal color for my default windows theme. I have tried this on two different windows 8 computers and the same gray color appears on both. I have to manually go into the color picker and try and match the OS color.

Have you altered any OS theme settings?

Yours is the first report I have seen of the colour matching code not matching the OS colour.

Nope. This is happening on two brand new unaltered installs. I will point out that I'm using the windows 7 style start menu. When I use the windows 8 style start menu the color matches the OS. When I use the windows 7 style start menu the color is gray. That's when I have to try and pick the correct color to match.

I think this is going to need a screenshot.

BTW if you are using the same live account login on both machines any theme changes you made on one would be copied to the new install.

That does not appear to be the release version of Windows 8.  That looks like the release preview which came with a very different theme.

I think I corrected the issue. I reinstalled windows. It appears to be working now. Thanks for your help.
