Is this 32 or 64 bit and can you confirm you are using 1.0 vs any of the beta versions please. (See about page in Start8 configuration screen)
Also is your machine set to auto login, or are you manually logging in?
Hi Neil,
64 bit, running Dell Studio 1550 laptop. Using version 1.0.
Its set to auto login but won't automatically login unless I click "desktop" on the win8 start screen.
Hi,
I really like this software as it makes everything much more easier again. Metro stuff is insane.
As mentioned boot to desktop mode does not work to me either. I hope it will get resolved. Using Windows 8 PRO 64bit.
I've got the same problem. Using version 1.0 on ASUS K53E Windows 8 PRO 64bit .
For me it was working at first on win8 pro 32-bit, till I installed all the updates they are offering now.
Now it's not working anymore for me either
I have this same problem as well.
If I have my Windows 8 computer contain only one user account on the system, it auto-logs into the desktop but doesn't boot directly to Desktop.
But, if I put a password on my account and login to the desktop after typing it in, Start8 recognizes the log-in and boots directory to teh desktop. I want to be able to not have a password and just auto-login and have it load into Desktop screen.
I think this may be a bug with the program because there are times that, on some restarts, it completely ignores the "Boot to the desktop screen" option that we enable.
Will there be a fix for this? Specifically for systems with one account and that login automatically with no password input?
I think this may be due to having certain 'Live tile' Apps activated on the Metro screen. I had the same problem till I right-clicked on the actual Tiles/Apps and turned off the live tile. This gave me an error code when I then shut down the PC but its been behaving since, and booting straight to desktop.
Which live tile was it?
There were several (Mail, Store, OSMaps, Weather, News, Photos, Google, Music, People, Messaging, Games, Calender & National Rail) that were turned on, and I turned them all off in one go rather than separately, as in 'Trial & Error'. Sorry I cant recall what the error code was as I did'nt make a note.
BTW I'm running Win8 Pro 64bit with McAfee NetProtector.
