ATTENTION Stardock/Brad

The previous text body of this post was on the slightly miffed side with regard to the hoops some have had to go through to get the stardock version of the installer to run.

Now that i have managed to get it working it would be unfair to leave this thread in it's previous state as i do champion the game itself i was just furious that we had all these arguments against giving compensated members STEAM keys and then it turns out the SD Download/Installer is a dog.

Aaaaaaaaanyways point being ... could i suggest you revert to the compression you used in beta or atleast just redo the file itself because it took 3 downloads and nearly 30mins of my machine going like a snail to finally get the consent screen to pop up only for it to disappear and nothing happen and on 2nd attempt the game has finally started to extract and install.

You are indeed a gem for offering 2 and a half years of effort to some of us for free there is no doubt of this BUT it's all a bit academic if on collection that gift is no more than a 3.5gig paper weight.

Please consider re-compressing the file at https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

I can't speak to your experience, but while my download from the usual Stardock store site took a long time, it went without a hitch, and installed perfectly.  And I've been playing (and commenting on) the betas for around four months.

I do sympathize, though.  It's a large download, and a slow one.  To go all that time with expectations of having the game in hand, only to find you didn't get it: no fun, at all.

The installer worked for me, but I had to wait about 3-4 minutes for the installer thing to come up asking me where i wanted to install the game.

I suggest running the install file as admin and go get a drink or some food then come back and it should be ready to install (:

I have the stardock website version download not the steam version. Just wait a few mins and hopefully it works! Good luck, its a great game so far.

You have to give it a couple of minutes. It works fine, but you can't be so impatient. If you cared to read around you would have read that they're people having IT errors that are out of their hands. Shit happens.

End of Emperor_Nero's quote

Try not to be too judgemental in a support forum where people are already having problems. You're just batting the fire.

I'm having this problem too. I think I've waited about 4 minutes and nothing is happening yet. What is it that causes this in installer .exes? This isn't the first time its happened either... just odd.

EDIT: Ah, finally got it going, about 5-6 minutes.

EDIT 2: Damn, it finally started getting going after 4-5 more minutes of "extraction" and CRASHED. Woot!

I'm having the same problem as OP. I have given it over an hour and, like OP, it just becomes a resource hog on my machine.

EDIT: funny thing, another post said to download it from stardock central. soon as i clicked the file to open the newly downloaded stardock central program FE begins to extract...

download works fine.

running the exe gives me the good old... file not signed warning from the security suite. install ran fine aside from the visual c++ installer crash..

but heck.. that's a lot of hdd thrashing...

loading the game takes a while too..

I was able to download the game and watch the debate from Monday at the same time without a problem. But then I did delete FE and deleted the folders then restarted the PC before downloading.
