Monsters can still randomly wander into you, they just don't actively seek you out. You might have just gotten unlucky.
I think the issue is that stealth doesn't protect you from wildland creatures (as opposed to monsters & ruffians). Possibly this is by design.

There's nothing to verify. An Ignys moved two tiles to attack one of my heroes. My faction has stealth. Either that's a bug in the trait or an unclear description on the stealth trait. I've played about half of my games in beta with Master Scouts (before they split it up) and never once had a monster "wander into me." That may be exactly what happened, but if that's possible the trait description should be cleaned up.
It wasn't an Ignys from the wildlands. It was a roamer from a nearby Ignys lair.
Monsters never move further than 1 tile on the strategic map, even when chasing unstealthy units, unless something has changed a lot that wasn't mentioned.
