Start8_100_setup

Does not recognize Windows 8 Ent

Latest version refuses to install on Windows 8 ENT error box stating "Windows 8 or later required to use this software.  I have images.  Is there a fix?  The prior betas have worked flawlessly.  This is quite a disappointment.

Thanking in advance for a solution!

What version of Windows 8 are you using?  Is it RTM?

Could Windows perhaps have applied 'compatibility settings' on the setup file by mistake and is forcing it to believe you are using say Windows 7?  Right click on the exe and see what the compatibility tab says.

Many thanks for the input. It is the MS TechNet version of Windows 8 Enterprise, downloaded from MS, registered and activated.

Compatibility settings was the first thing checked. No interference.  MS said they released an update that would negate any start menu programs and I thought I would  have lost the beta if that were true.  Very perplexing.

I have not had any difficulty with any of the previous Beta programs, not even any glaring bugs.  I have even uninstalled the beta program thinking it was interfering somehow, then reinstalled the beta as the release version still has the error.   have downloaded it 3 different times as well.

Thanks again for your input.

I've checked with the 90 day Enterprise trial, but have not tried with a "pure" Enterprise edition. Start8 is running fine on it, that error message is from a version check failing. http://sd.stardock.com/Start8_ent_check_remove.exe will pop that error message and 2 others with version numbers, then it'll let the install continue. Please email kwilas at stardock dot com the 2 versions it displays.
