Start8 is delaying windows shutdown process

I recently installed Windows 8 RTM (MSDNAA) version on my computer along with Start8 beta 3. Start 8 works fine for the most part except when it holds up the windows shutdown process. I often get a screen with the title “Closing 1 app and shutting down” which lists start8 along with the message “This app is preventing shutdown” and buttons “Shutdown anyway” and “Cancel”. Even if I don’t press “shutdown anyway” windows shuts down after displaying the previously mentioned screen for about a second or two.  This happens very often but not always, when it happens the shutdown process is delayed by about 5 seconds.

Configuration: Toshiba L840 notebook running Windows 8 Professional (ver: 6.2.9200), Intel core i5 3210M, Intel 330 series SSD, 4GB RAM, Radeon 7600 series gfx.
