small gui glitches

1. When I log into system, I see enlarged Start8 icon -- and it's changed to the small one only if I change start8 settings (e.g. disable transparency/change rounded menu/etc. because it's repainted). It's repro.

2. Start8 menu shutdown option

3. Start8 menu shutdown option #2

Have you hacked your OS theme files?

Unfortunately your custom theme has some bugs and thats why you are having those odd issues with the shutdown button.

I see, do you plan to add "Windows 7 classics theme" from Win7 to Start8? I like classic Win2k/XP theme than Win7/Win8.

Thanks.

How about this screenshot? Missing icons (notice 3rd entry has no description at all).
Win8 x64, theme was never modified on this OS.

What is the third entry?

I see icons too. What was different this time?

Nothing, I think -- just pressed WinKey and all icons (incl. small ones in "All Programs" were missing.

+ when contextmenu is shown (right click on desktop), then winkey displays Start8 menu and hide immediately

Is there anything unusual about this machine as you are the only person reporting anything like this.

By the looks of it the request for the system image lists failed and I cannot understand why that would happen.

End of xpk7's quote

This is normal.  The Windows start menu never appears when you have right clicked on the desktop.  On Win7 nothing happens at all, with Start8 the menu shows and hides.

I lost my icons as well but it only happened after a Windows 8 update was installed this morning. That leads me to believe that something was changed in the OS which corrupted the Start 8 menu. Just a hunch but too much of a coincidence I think.

OK...so out of curiosity I decided to reinstall 0.98 just in case something was corrupt and sure enough the icons came back and all looks to be well. Knowing that I am upgrading to Windows 8 and the only reason I decided to do so was Start 8, this was and is a must have piece of software. That Start button has to be there for Windows 8 to be user friendly in my humble opinion.

Out of the clear blue sky the same thing happened and the icons were gone. Reinstalling solves the problem but it should not come to that so something is causing a problem.
