Fences 2.0 beta update

I'm using Fences 2.0 beta. I use Stardock Central for all updates/software that's Stardock. They call SC a beta yet (for me) it's a bit of perfection.

After installing Fences 2 version 1.8 beta, Stardock Central reports an update version 2.0. Great. I go to install it, reboot and I still apparently an running version 1.8. Totally weird as nothing like this in tons of years has ever happened like this.

Did a total uninstall, started from scratch, just using version 2.0. It still comes up as 1.8 and Stardock Central still reports an update is available!

 Weird, weird, weird.

On the good side, whatever is running is doing just fine. The new folder thing (Portal), and anything I've tried so far is perfect. So..... What's the problem?

It's very important cause, Stardock programs have NEVER been an issue with ANY pc I ever used or built.

Suggestions? Fixes?

also took a ticket on this.

It's just a part of being in the wonderfull world of Beta software.

I've been told that SDC, at the moment isn't upto scratch on how to (fully) manage version/build numbers, but it's a known issue and is being worked on.

:)

Thanks for the faq's.

I found the real problem. Stardock has 2 identical Fences 2.0 install executables but are are titled differently. One is titled "Fences 2 2.00.exe" while the other is titled "Fences2_beta1_setup.exe". Both are identical as is the 1.8 revision number.,, Yet if we look at either files properties both have a revision number of 9.0.4.0..

If it wasn't for your response I never would have thought to do a file compare! Thx!

So, I guess the question of the day would be why identical files with different titles???

We change our minds sometimes.  Especially with betas.
