[SUGGESTION]Making summoning come back in style

The units that you summon now are only useful early game, and the scale really badly. This includes the ones that Resoln gets (not the splitting demons, they are fine).

 

My suggestion is to add extra spells that will help the summoned units:

 

Build fire: Level 5 fire magic spell. Will split your fire elemental into a group of two elementals

Force wind: Level 4 air: Gives air elemental +5 attack +1 initiative and +20hp

Sword of stone: Level 4 earth. Gives earth elemental a sword that gives +10 attack

+++ you get the picture. We need a transition of the summons into late game useful units.

Since some of you mentioned Summons.  The whole summoner class is woefully weak... one of each type?  For a mere channeler, sure.  

A Summoner has the mental fortitude and physical stamina to bend a multitude of fantastic beasts to his will  It would be better if Summon II, III, IV, V meant that your Summoner could cast that number of creatures either tactically or strategically.  An army of 5 fire elementals would be expensive but very cool.

I really agree that summons are terrible, although I would instead of this hope they each would properly scale with new levels, and more summons would become available.

Yeah I'm surprised Derek hasn't touched this.  Maybe he doesn't like the Summoning idea much.  Brad had it in EWOM, but it hasn't gotten any love in FE.  Perhaps we can just persuade him to move the Summon Ice Elemental, Fire Elemental, and Earth Elemental down one spell level so that they could be more useful until we get them leveled up ourselves.

I think having a "Path of the Summoner" at level 4 would be nice as well.  Maybe reduces summoning spells by 50% in tactical.  Guarantees the Summon I,II, III skills show up on subsequent level ups.  Possibly new sets of skills like Enhanced Summons Attack I,II,III  and Enhanced Summons Defense I,II,III

I mean even a warlock or melee-er can summon basic versions.  If the summons got more of a boost under a summoner.  Whoa. watch out.

 

I like that being a summoner gives you + levels to summons as does the summon skills.  But it's pretty underwhelming unless gaining levels means more than a couple extra hps.  They could get some ability that scales with those levels in addition to being helped out by a little bonus to attack and defense.

 

Also, why no magic items that give bonuses to summoning?

It's not limited to summons. This is in fact one of the biggest issues in the game because it is every single monster that scales horribly in comparison to troops. Use any monsters lately? Can any monster gain 8x their starting attack and hp? What would help is to just increase the attack and defense monsters gain from levels. Most monster don't gain any defense from levels at all.
