Help! How do you make bitmap strips from an animated gif in gimp?

I am making my own 3d gifs but can't figure out how to convert them into bitmap frames. Bitstrip can't handle my larger animations. I have downloaded Gimp but can't seem to get my animation layers converted into one long strip of bitmaps. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is copying each frame one by one into a strip image. I'm not sure if there are any other programs to do it for you. If gimp won't let you see the frames as layers, try jasc's animation shop (comes with paint shop pro)and paste each frame into gimp.

GIMP does show the frames as layers. be sure to download the GIF plugin: http://www.iki.fi/tml/gimp/win32/gimp-gif-1.2.3-20020310.zip
your job is now to copy and paste those layers.
