Windows 8 Search Missing Feature

I am posting this as a suggestion because the search has one missing part that is crucial for it to be identical to the Windows 7 search and that is settings. For example, in Windows 7 if you type "Network Connections" you'll see network connections while in Start8 you will not. It appears that Start8 is only searching for applications and not Windows Settings. Currently we are stuck with having to press WINDOWS KEY + W in order to access the settings search. This needs to be incorporated into start8.

I'll pass this along to the developers.

The next beta includes the OS settings search that the Windows 7 startmenu does when you do a search.

Just, for the record.. this is one of the two features that, if they're both added, will convince me to buy this over the free alternatives.

(The look/feel is already 99% of the way there.. which is better than the free alternatives.  Now if settings search works right, and I can enable the links as menus instead (I like my 'user' folder to be a menu, and I like 'control panel' to be a menu, which was possible in Win Vista/7)

Links as menus are a feature of the next update.

Likewise the current beta (beta 3) already has control panel search.

Ok, in that case, I'd like to report a bug. ;)

This what I see when I try the control panel search:

So.. i thought it wasn't working.

However, if I wait about 3 more seconds, this is what I see:

It seems that if I type 'programs and features' and immediately hit enter, it does launch the proper shortcut.. but I hadn't done that in my initial testing because it was showing the wrong icon.

So, I am guessing there's just some optimization you need to do.. for a beta, I'm willing to deal with it.  Like I said, very nice look and feel, looks very integrated and once the minor issues are smoothed out, I won't even notice the downsides to windows 8. ;P
