[0.95] Leveling champions is fun - why stop the fun

Champion leveling hits a wall early.  By level 9 or 10 it really slows down.  Given that many abilities only increase power by 5% (dodge, spell resist, etc.) should the leveling end so quickly. Where's the fun in that?   Poor magi need to level magic paths and skills.

Ease up on the +1 per level abilities and taper off health per level and you'll contain the power curve.  All the while allowing players the fun of leveling their characters.

Agree.

As a partial, temporary work-around, the 'paragon' spell is pretty much the only thing.  Some people think it is WAY overpowered; I think it might be a little overpowered/underpriced, but please don't nerf it too much without doing something else to help champs level up.

"Destiny's Gift" & "Destiny's Insight" are supposed to help here, but they are vastly underpowered/overpriced.  They could use some love.

I said this before but an EXP slider at world generation that lets the player give an XP bonus to champions will be would fix this problem. It would be nice if it changed the curve at higher levels rather than just give +100% xp but either one would help greatly.

I agree. The wall you hit at level 9 is pretty much close to the end of the game (for me).

I wouldn't mind the leveling speed except for two things. Frankly, once a champion hits about level 10, there is next to nothing that can stop them except other champions of level 10 or higher, WITH really good gear and spells. Leveling more is really just generating a higher number beyond that. Doesn't really make you killier, and doesn't really make you survive better.

The reasons it needs to not taper off are as follows; first, Leveling is how you get spell ranks (for some stupid reason), and you only hit your class at level 4.

If you got your class at level 3, and had just one more level worth of access to class-specific abilities, topping out at level 10 really wouldn't be all that bad.You would have a pretty decent shot at getting a level 3 skill, and a level 2 skill in things that you are interested in having.

In terms of spells, though, I've been playing Pariden since beta 5 came out to play with the new Essence mechanics, and I have wanted to experiment with new spell organization and balance, as well as the "Path of the Mage" class. Problem is, just about the point that I get level 4, I stop getting the option to increase my spell rank at level up. I realize its a crapshoot. Problem is IT SHOULDN'T BE. If a player wants to focus on being a powerful wizard at the expense of being a capable fighter, they should be able to do so. Especially if they want to have more than one school of magic.

Please, please, please figure out a better way to open up spell levels. The current system is random for the sake of random and makes playing anything other than a combat focused sovereign/champion a very serious strategic risk. Banking on Air level 3 this level, mage? Too bad. Enjoy Strength, Quick, Potential 2, Adventurer's Boon, and +1 Summon levels (you know, for all one of the summons that you have). Please.

That is a great idea in my opinion, because it takes too long to get the class you want to play.

I think the amount of experience is very good at the moment and it makes the potential trait really useful, but with the random generation of traits at each level it can be very difficult to get all the traits you need. In my opinion the number of avaible traits at each level should be increased to give the player more options.

I have to agree with this- at least in general.  There is a problem- and xp is really tough to gain.

Maybe buff xp gains on the strongest monsters as a way to solve this, in addition to giving class at lvl 2 or 3, which are uninteresting.

I think the potential traits (+ 15, + 20 and + 25 % xp) and the new life spell (+ 25 % xp) are already very strong xp buffs.

I agree that the act of levelling up is super fun, keep that happening a lot but make it have a smaller effect somehow. Choosing from the semi random list and customizing your dude is great.

Heroes dominated in the previous patch and with this nerf they still dominate only slightly less, so they need a nerf but try to find a different nurf. Like less hp/dps per level.

The swords that do 32+ damage also make the game a total joke, consider reigning those in a bit.

I'm not sure if I see how the 50dmg, 30dmg, etc weaponry is so very overpowered. A five member group of spearmen can do considerable damage to even an armoured hero by virtue of the armour piercing aspect of their weaponry and sheer numbers, and it's easier by far to train them than it is to knock over a dragon or an obsidian golem to snag the tasty weapon loots within their lairs. The weapons have big damage numbers on them, but at the end of the day they're still rare, your opponents have the same odds of finding them as you, and it's only one champion with a 50 dmg sword - a 5 figure unit with a shock hammer can easily get up to the 100+ damage. Units equiped with the Enchantment unlocked magic sticks and hasted can be equally scary.

If you think those weapons are overpowered now, wait until Resoln comes at you with a single level 5, 9 figure Cyndrum Demons unit and drops a 4-5 death shard boosted berserk on them while mass cursing and gravesealing your uberchamps. And thats just the tip of the iceberg. Beastlord hoarder spider hoardes, warlord swarms, armies of henchmen assassins!

So, I respectfully disagree with you about the high end equipment being unbalanced, mdonais

Spell levels should be reduced from 5 to 3 and have level requirements before being learnable.
