[0.95] [Bug] alt-tab freezes the game

This is really annoying bug. When I alt tab and try to get back in game the game freezes and can't do anything on it anymore. Tends to happends when I have to use "Show desktop" from taskbar.

I have to kill he process from task manager to close to the game.

This has been happening to me since at least beta 2, and I guess it hasn't been reproducible at Stardock. It is reproducible every time for me once I get into the main game screen (it usually doesn't happen with the menu screen). Once I switch to anything other than FE (even the Windows 7 "locked" screen), I get a blank screen when returning to FE, and I have to kill the process. Here are my system specs:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M with 1 GB RAM

Driver version: 301.42 (latest)

Video BIOS version: 70.16.25.01.02

1920x1080 screen resolution (using Desktop resolution game setting)

8 GB system RAM

Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit)

System is set up to be connected to an external monitor, but currently isn't.

Never had this one...but I'm running dual monitors....I alt-tab once and then the right-scroll (full screen mode still) doesn't work anymore and I can cursor right over to my other monitor...annoying...but handy when I'm typing stuff in these threads while playing the game... XD

I only saw this one time! (And forgot the debug file). out of 20 alt-tabs or so, but wanted to say it happened on my machine.

can fetch some stats if devs need it

Similar problem here... in addition, if my laptop falls asleep, then FE is toast.  And before you say that will happen to any game, I can tell you that I have had SWTOR, Civ 5, and FE all running at the same time, laptop falls asleep, SWTOR and Civ 5 are just fine but FE is toast.  FIX IT!  I meant that in the nicest way possible.

I can make this happen in .951 on the opening menu:

1. Start up the program.

2. When the opening menu appears, switch out of the program using Alt+Tab.

3. At some later point (after possibly switching back and forth between other programs and this program multiple times, running other programs, etc.), press the "New" button. The button sound goes off, but the screen doesn't change, and appears to be locked up at that point.

It probably does this in .950 as well,

Every other game that I have does this switch correctly, so I don't think that this is a hardware or driver problem.

It would be nice if someone from Stardock can reply to this thread so we know that they have seen this bug report. This bug effectively stops you from using the computer for anything else while playing the game (or at least makes it really annoying).
