AI surrender..

When the AI surrenders and you get a "military victory" as I just did at the end of a 7.5 hour long game..

If you select keep playing, will the AI keep doing its thing or is it dead?

And if not, can I disable the AI surrender?

Nope, its ships will "fight" back when you attack but no ship movement nor ship building.

Sadly no.

It doesn't seem to be giving up at unreasonable times at least, there were two left out of 8 and I had the majority of the map.

They often seem to give up as I'm heading towards their capital sector with my fleet, just after kotsura cannoning.

Are they basically calling checkmate?

For me it seems like several tend to die (or give up) easily somewhere early on in the game. (not too early, but when compared to the full game) It also tends to happen to the factions that I have a chance at allying with as well. :/

Does it also seem that the Normal difficulty tends to be harder than usual? Sometimes I do ok, but other times they just somehow quickly own half the map and crush me easily....WTF?

(not to mention some AIs still like to gang up on me, one attacks a planet, so I deal with them while another decides to attack my other planet on the other side of the map. Once I finish off one player, I go after the other attacker, and the other guys come back with a full fleet again.... :/ )

That happens on Normal difficulty?

It does to me, don't know about everyone else...is it a type of behavior? Because I have always fought AIs at "Normal" with the behaviors set to random.

Most likely the behavior set.

Yeah, if you set behavior to random and you end up with a bunch of "aggressive" normal AIs, it can be markedly more difficult than when you end up with a bunch of economy AIs.

Makes sense, gonna mess with the behaviors next time then. :p
