Start Panel Font Color Problem

Hello all.

I'm new to skinning and recently purchased WB7 and SkinStudio Pro.  I'm having an issue with changing the font colors on the Start Panel.  First off, when I create a new skin, I choose the Advanced type, after which SkinStudio prompts me to selece a substyle (Diamond, Diamond Vista, Diamond XP).  I'm only guessing that a new skin has to have a starting point from which to edit files/images, and Diamond is the default style.  Now when I finish setting up my Start Panel images and try to edit the text on either the Places List or Program List, neither will accept the change. (I'm using Windows 7 x64).  If I try creating a Basic Skin, the font colors on the Start Panel change just fine.  I can also change the font colors (in SkinStudio) of a downloaded Blind.  Is there a step that I'm missing?   Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a bunch, lol... That did it.  Kinda strange that "Mouseover Items" change the text color when no mouse is even near...   >_>

I challenge anyone to explain in depth how all the different text color settings work on the startpanel. You have both the left and right side settings plus the mouseover image text settings on both sides. When doing complex effects F.ex. right side, dark text normal with light mouseover and perhaps the opposite on the left side, you will be left tearing out your hair in frustration!

Heck, I challenge anyone to explain the way half the stuff works (or in a lot of cases doesn't work) in SkinStudio period! There are so many things wrong I could not even begin to list them all. :S

Not me. I just gave a setting that would change it so he could see things. I would love to mix things up but everytime I change one thing something else doesn't work that was working. So I end up with what it gives me and not always what I want. I won't live long enough to get the expirence you and Tom have. I just have as much fun as I can with this stuff at my age.
