System too slow after installing registered version of WindowBlinds!

Can anyone tell me how to tweak the settings in WindowBlinds so my system won't run so SLOOOOOOOW? I have 512MB of SDRAM, using Windows ME and have an Athlon CPU running at 800MHz. I've disabled some executables like WS_FTP and registry editors, but my computer is running like a 386, WOW! I am also managing my memory instead of Windows managing it.

hehehe don't use Windows ME and all your problems will be gone!!

also it depends on the skin you choose, if you choose skins with a lots of anims yes maybe that will slow down your computer a lot.

Firewall software can often be a problem. Also check that your virus checker is not checking all files - if it checks all accesses to WB files, it'll be slow.

it still shouldn't be running -that- slow make sure you update your video drivers to the latest versions available. this goes for on-board as well as cards.

if all the above still don't improve your performance, use the process of elimination. set everything you have to -not- load on startup, then reboot. shut off everything you can in your system tray. then pop on windowblinds and see if you're slow already. start slowly adding your usual contingent of software, one at a time, to see where the big hit is. running a system meter during this will help you see it.

Thanks everyone! The problem...... I was using an nVIDIA card with ME. After reading the FAQ's, I found that this is a problem. I changed out the card with one I had left over from an upgrade and no more problems. I am in the process of getting a 64MB card now! (not from nVIDIA)
