They work for me...

Try opening them with the new rebellion galaxy forge and resaving em.

Seems like roughly 2 thirds of my maps created with the beta editor stopped working.
They'll even crash the game when attempting to switch to the custom maps tab.

And the one's who crash can't be opened in the editor as well.

Although i do acknowledge that the former editor was beta, it's still a little saddening that the difference between it and the release version undoes hours of my work for no apparent benefit (release editor looks and feels almost completly the same as the beta one).

If there's some nasty bug responsible for this, please fix asap, if it's way as intended (or more likely just unavoidable), well, then back to the (map) drawing board.

OK I am assuming you are talking about Galaxy Forge 3 the current download I used it to build this map and in the game after adding the map if I go to the directory the game will crash as "el_phantasma" stated.

End of BowAndHammer's quote

No, Galaxy Forge 3 is out of date. There is a version of Galaxy Forge in your install directory, which should be the steam app data folder.

I tried both map types, ones that i created with GF3 (because they worked in the Rebellion Beta and GF3 was more stable than the beta forge back then) and others  that were exclusively made with the Rebellion beta forge.
Needless to say the GF3 maps don't work at all, BUT why some maps made via the beta editor work and others don't is completly beyond me.

rebellion 1.02 BROKE the mapversion 3 read and load that was in the beta AND the 1.01 release, but still attempts to load the maps no matter what mapversion they are and crashes when it find a single line not in the mapversion 4 structure.

as I see the choices for sd/ic they are

1 restore the mapversion 3 reading (my preference)

2 enforce the mapversion 4 ONLY the same way that sins/trinity did with previous mapversions by not attempting to read past the mapversion line if it is NOT 4 & thereby not crashing(simple, but not desired as it would lose all the older maps)

3 create/release a utility to convert mapversion 3 maps to mapversion 4 (I also would like this option as I would not have to continue supporting my map updater)

4 support the community members that have/will create a utility to update the mapversions (I also would benefit from this choice as I am working on a mapversion updater at the moment but still have one issue that I have not been able to beat yet)

Yes, I'd be fine if the game itself would not try to load older map types (and crash) but the galaxy forge itself would... so i even had a chance to update them.

@harpo:
Strange, so you say the bug was introduced between 1.00 and 1.02?
So there's me hoping even more that this is just an oversight and not a conscious design decision.

I had loaded a game on one of my mod testing maps(mapversion 3) in the RELEASED 1.01 rebellion and played for approx 4 hours, then had the update, and tried to load the SAME map and crash. and I also hope it s a bug and not a design choice, as it was convienient to load mapversion 3 maps without having to convert them but either he game shoud load mapversion 3 OR ignore mapversion 3 maps, but NOT attempt to read them and crash.
