Wow with everything I have been hearing about rebellion...

...Im not really sure Im going to buy the game.

Not that Im trolling in anyway whatsoever as this is not intended as such but seriously...I love starcraft 2 and I love Sins. Right now Im at an inner conflict with myself on whether I should spend my free time playing Starcraft 2 or Sins because Starcraft is made for the purpose to be balanced and fair. From what I have been reading from all the posts on rebellion so far the game leaves much to be desired compared to starcraft. I mean I do get tired of the fast-paced build stuff faster than your opponent crap that the game represents and I really enjoyed playing Sins. But if so many people are complaining about how imbalanced Sins is and its all going to matter on who is more skilled than the other or if its "hey I have an advantage...I win...than Im not going to get the game. Im sorry Stardocks I love your Sins games but if this balance issue doesn't get fixed (which at this point doesnt seem likely) then I wont get it.

Now one thing I don't quite understand as I haven't really played rebellion at all is the whole balance issue. Like what is really unbalanced? I know sb are OP right now compared to freaking titans but shouldn't they focus as a defensive unit? How can they port in from one planet to another now? Also sb along with going against your opponents fleet at the same time doesnt seem fair at all, especially with the issue of the Corvettes. Sb should be like a fortifier for your fleet such as adding to their dps but not in terms of sb being able to hold off whole amounts of enemy fleets by itself. Thats like your enemies fleet being doubled. And you add bloody enemy mines to deal with could make it impossible to capture an enemy's planets. Despite sins slow-paced action its no different than starcraft. When you lose your army and your opponent still has an overwhelming army...your screwed!! In sins it takes a while to actually manage to get the resources you need to fend off an enemies forcies before losing many of your planets. And when your opponent has a larger number of planets than you do its over.

Seriously to everyone reading this if I am indeed wrong about anything I said please correct me. I just want to know the real truth about the game if its "really" worth getting despite the fancy realistic graphics upgrades its getting and so forth...even though I may get the game for that reason...

You have to decide for yourself, what is most important for you. If you prefer shorter matches and the right balance is the most important thing, then obviously right choice for you is SC. If you on other hand dont mind longer games, actually like the fact, that the game has that "epic" dimension, where it lets you feel you are not actually just skirmishing small enemy taskforce for few minutes, but wage wars against entire empires, additionally you can survive the fact, the game is still buggy and unbalanced, as it is still in beta, then try Rebellion.

Regarding the statement, that when you lose against enemy fleet, you are similarly screwed as on SC2, its not completely true. Unlike in SC, there are true chokepoints in Sins. You just put fully upgraded starbase, lot of defensive structures, phasejump inhibitors and lot of mines into right gravity well, which enemy cant skip, when raiding your core worlds, and with strong economy you have time to rebuild. Additionally, some factions, predominantly Vasari Loyalists, but Rebels too and TEC Rebels with their Pirate Merecenaries, with several Phase Stabilisers/Broadcast Centers can summon instantly some decent fleets. Nothing like that on SC2. If you lose one of those high-speed battles in that game, you are most likely screwed, because even if you have money to burn, unless you have as many Barracks as you need new units to replace the lost ones, you are never able to rebuild on time. That is IMHO wrong, artificially shortens the game and kills any possible sense of epicness.

I agree with everything you just said. As I said I love Sins and sc2 and Im debating between both of them. In truth I dont want to have to play sc2 anymore because Im sick of the damn fast-paced action and high risk moves. Sins is definitely more fun to me because the matches are alot longer and are "fun" unlike sc which take any meaning of fun for the sake of promoting sensible gameplay. But still from what I have been hearing sins has some major balance issues though. I mean I hear that starbases can port to other planets now? Is that true? Because I know how powerful they can be especially if a player has to put up with 2 of them. Also the Vasari Loyalist whom I was going to play as sound like they're getting their asses kicked out there.

Really I was looking for someone to give me the real balance issues here and if Stardocks can really fix them or no?

Vasari Loyalists are fine, they perhaps require small buff to their Titan (maybe not), but other than that, they can have very strong economy, with right amount of phase gates, which can you spawn anywhere, they can replenish their forces pretty quickly, thanks to their Titan = capital planet they can be very difficult to finish off (at least on paper) and overall, they are very, very fun to play.

The game is still in beta, so its bound to be unbalanced, but people tend to go bit over the top, when comes to this particular thing. Currently, everyone seems hellbent, that jumping Orkuluses are OP in the current state - and perhaps they are right. But perhpaps, when you look at the bigger picture, its not as bad - i mean no worse than eating planets, being able to build 2 starbases or have incredibly high shield mitigation... to be entirely sure about that there needs to be more time for playtesting, not just 3 days.

Bottom line, there will be always people crying something is OP or UP, god knows, i may be one of them. Do not let that stop you enjoying the game.
