Computer Performance

Can anyone tell me if it's "normal" for computer performance to drop by 1/10 point, after installing Deskscapes 3.

I have a HP Pavilion g series Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. Other than WindowBlinds and IconPackager, I have very few other programs installed. Before I start un-installing programs, to determine the culprit, is a performance drop a common result after installing Deskscapes 3?

I can accept a 1/10th point reduction in performance for such a great product, I really do love Deskscapes and the others!!! Great Stuff, makes my desktop a wonderland. But, it could be some "add-on toolbar" that slipped in while I was downloading something else. You know how are.. unless you check, uncheck, or ignore the right boxes, you can end up with a virus from someplace you’d never normally go.

First Open HP Support Assistant, Click on Troubleshoot, wait for it to load and Click Performance and Software. In the middle of the page you'll see Windows Experience Index 4.6, yours could be different.

Next, Open the Control Panel, Under View by: select Large Icons, Click Performance Information and Tools. There, on the right you'll see Base Score and it should be the same number, 4.6 This is the lowest score in the index, the "Graphics Component" which is rating the "Desktop performance for Windows Aero". Mine says 4.5On the bottom right of the window, you can Re-run the assessment which will take a minute or two. You can also click on What do these numbers mean? for an explaination. Let me know how you do, PLz

I'm a bit confused.  Is DeskScapes impacting performance or are you just seeing a number change?

I didn't have a drop with the program itself, but memory use and performance sure makes a difference depending on whose dream you are running. Some were to the point that I deleted them from the machine.

The dreams are made by different people, using different methods, some on machines that would make a race car seem slow. Regular machines like mine I have to pick and choose a little. After a while I discover whose dreams run better than others on my machine and those are the ones I seem to use the most. I know that dreams that are entirely synthetic run pretty good and dreams made from video - such as real water and such - are hit and miss. If your machine slowed down, try another.

If I was paying for my dreams :O then I would expect them to all play nice. But this is a give and take world, what do you expect for free?

upgrade your graphic driver deinstall it completely reboot and then upgrade to the latest version had this before and then the index was good also DirectX i hope this helps normaly the dream should not affect the windowsindex and if it does its just windows itself cant imagine its deskscapes for example i have a good cpu a ssd and a middle class graphicscard but if i run Zbrush and do the index it also goes down... the index doesnt indicate anything at all its not precise so to say

WindowBlinds' SE7EN METRO by P5YLOCK3 is causing the drop. I quit it and re-run the assessment, results were 4.6, then repeated the process to double check. I guess I'll have to start watchin 'em one by one. Thankx.

Also, I really like the "upgrade the graphics driver" idea, I'll look into it.

Thankx Again for your help, I've got a couple good ideas and a little more insight now...
