Making XP skins without using windowblinds

Does anyone know or have made a program to actually make colors in WinXP? I would like to make my own but I dont want to use a program just to view them. I know there has to be a way to alter the colors in the themes area. I am a big system resource freak and dont want to use a program to just to have different theme is the reason. Anyone know of anything?

You can find a lot of information regarding this at http://www.themexp.org and http://www.neowin.net

If you're a resource freak you really should check out WindowBlinds, with UIS1 skins, it's actually faster and lighter on resources than Mircosoft's MSStyles engine, which is what you are using if you're using the default Luna theme, or any other MSStyles theme such as the ones on ThemeXP.org

uh, guys, he may just be referring to the normal windows classic color schemes. if that's the case, http://jotenet.cjb.net has something called 3d color changer that will do what you want.

...least, that's how i'm reading it

well, I guess you can just do that from in appearance. I assumed he meant luna, because with that, you're stuck with the 3 defaults, where as the classic scheme, you can change just as in previous windows versions.

I wish they put a few more themes in with XP.

stardock brought out microsoft before the release of XP just so that they could control the new skining engine, and thus make sure that it did a lot less than window blinds

as i understand it the real reason is that microsoft have said that there are a lot of compatibility issues with their skins, so the bundled themes needed a massive amount of internal testing to be sure they wouldnt cause problems. becuase of this there werent enough available resorces to release more themes.

They could make a download site for new XP skins.
