CursorFX Keeps Disappearing

I don't seem to be having much luck with this program. Some months ago I installed it on my laptop but ended up having to uninstall it. Now I've a new desktop, Gateway all in one, and just recently bought and installed CursorFX and I keep having problems with it staying applied. Each time I turn on the computer I have to re-apply it and sometimes I become aware that, even with the computer staying on, it's gone again and I have to re-apply.  Any help please? Thank you.

Hmm... sounds like thereĀ“s something that conflicts with Cursor FX, What programs do you usually got running when it disappears ? :\

What OS are you running?  Windows 7 themes allow for changing the cursor.  What other programs are you running?  Are you changing themes in Windows?

Well, it disappears on start up so nothing big is running except the programs needed by this computer and Avast which I've used for years and was fine with CursorFX  on my last PC. I'm using Windows 7 and I'm not using Windowblinds so not changing themes. On the couple of times it's disappeared while I'm still connected I was just browsing on Firefox.

When you say disappeared, is the whole cursor gone, or does it switch back to Windows default?  Does it do it with all cursors or some in particular? What about the ones supplied with CFX? Do they work ok?

Try this: Go to  C:\Program Files(x86)\Stardock\CursorFX and find the CFX.exe and CFX Control Panel .exe. R-click  on them select Properties and set both to run in Compatibility mode for Vista SP2

(it worked to fix other issues some were having with CFX, might work here).

I had a similar problem to this, (cursor going back to standard while computer was in use), until I installed the latest CursorFX release, is yours the latest version?

I've had this problem for a long time now....... and I believe i'm running the latest version because the OTHER bug where you had to click twice to apply the cursor went away, but I was still stuck with this one. B[]

Wizard1956 -  I was misleading to say 'disappeared' it goes to the default cursors, the whole set reverts. What I'm using right now is Bones, I think I installed that one. I've just got home I'll try a set that came with the program and get back here. I did try the trick you suggested then re-booted. I thought it had worked at first because the Bones set loaded at the start, but as everything else loaded it suddenly went to the default set.

Lightstar - sorry almost forgot to answer you. I just installed the program three days ago I'm assuming its the latest version. Thanks.

Well, I applied the CursorFX default set, rebooted and that set stayed.

So I applied another set I had downloaded, rebooted, and that set acted just like Bones and reverted to windows default.

I'm not finding Bones in the gallery but if it's an older cursor, that may be the problem. I've found some cursors made prior to 2004 that  locked up the UI until it was removed. While most CXP cursors will work just fine on CFX, any older than 2004 I use with caution.

I don't think it's the cursor themes......... I think it's a conflict, possibly with something like msn messenger, but I can't be certain. B[]

I don't use msn messenger, or any im actually.

Also, I'm so sorry I got the name slightly wrong, the set is called Boned and its from 2002.

I've tried a few more sets that I installed including fauxSTOON, all revert to windows default while the computer loads up.

Try some from 2008 or later and see if they work. I suspect some CXP cursors are problematic in CFX.

2002 is much older than I would even attempt to load.

Thank you to all that tried to help me with this problem. I spent the evening changing sets and rebooting, it got to the point that it was reverting to windows default every few minutes, even without shutting down. I got so frustrated with it I uninstalled the darn program. Thank you.

Checking up on a new CFX having been submitted I discovered that I have the exact same problem.
I have noticed that it (only) happens when switching to certain applications, like VLC Media player and PaintShop Pro.

Latest CFX on 64bit Win7 Home Premium.

Bryan, could you test this with PhotoShop, as well as VLC?
