I am getting absolutely disgusted with this process.  I play a game, then when an upgrade comes along, it will no longer recognize the prior game and I have to start all over again.  This has happened several times and I find it irritating and absolutely unnecessary.  Regardless of all you out there who know how circumvent this, all I can say is that I am an average player and probably will never, never buy another Stardock game again.

Its a beta dude, and unlike many companies who use the term for an early release of the main version, with Stardock if you don't want to deal with these things you should wait for the main release. Then the updates won't be as frequent. The lesson you should get from this is to not beta test a game ever again. ;)

Seriously.  The game is in Beta testing.  Everything is subject to change, and all the major kinks need to be worked out and balance passes done now so the game doesn't 'suddenly change' after it goes live.

If you're not sure what a Beta Test is (and it seems that way), then its probably best just to wait until the game goes live before installing it.

Not sure what you want? So you don't want patches then turnoff auto update in steam.

People who don't know what a beta is really shouldn't be encouraged to buy into one. It just causes stuff like this.
